With this being Suicide prevention day and month, I am not gelling with the whole idea.
I agree that suicide prevention is really important and should be talked about every day, not just once a year. Imagine if we only talked about fire safety on one day a year β that wouldn't make much sense, right? Mental health, including preventing suicide, is similar. People can have tough times and feel like they might want to hurt themselves at any time, so we need to be ready to help them all the time.
When we make suicide prevention an everyday thing, it shows that we care all year round. Mental health is like any other part of our health; it needs regular attention. If we talk about it every day, it makes it easier for people to ask for help when they need it. It's like saying, "It's okay to talk about your feelings, and we're here to support you."
Also, when we treat suicide prevention as an everyday thing, we encourage everyone to be open about their feelings. This helps break the idea that mental health problems are something to be ashamed of. It's like making it normal to talk about being sick β nobody should feel bad about seeking help when they're not feeling well mentally.
Lastly, by focusing on suicide prevention all the time, we can work on making mental health services better, making sure schools and communities are safe and supportive, and creating rules that help protect people who might be at risk. So, making it an everyday thing is not just about talking; it's about making real changes to help everyone stay mentally healthy and safe. Lets treat each other kindly every day, not just when we see someone is having a hard time.
Well that is just my unpopular POV. I would love to hear yours. Please let me know.
