Healing Through Yoga: A Grieving Mom's Journey

About Dakota - who left this earth 8 Jan 2018

“We are healed of a suffering only by experiencing it to the full.”

Don't run away from grief, o soul, look for the remedy inside the pain, because the rose came from the thorn, and the ruby came from a stone. RUMI

Wow, where do I start? Dakota was certainly the firecracker of my three daughters, my wild child. She was always the most adventurous and daring, the one who put me through the grinder the most. There is always that one child!

How blessed I am to be her mother. I thank God for her daily. She was so kind and thoughtful, a born leader, and incredibly talented. Dakota loved gymnastics and was a volunteer coach for the Special Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics team. She played piano, sang, played guitar, and painted—a truly gifted young woman. Dakota is a beautiful soul who has moved onto a different energy field, and I believe she is with Jesus now.

Dakota was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and raised mostly in Canada, where she loved the wild beauty and safety of Vancouver Island. She was 23 when she left this world.

We had started our Yoga Teacher Training together, and I went on to finish it for us. I have continued to study and upgrade my skills, and now bring my offerings to anyone who can use them. She is the reason I am able to do this business.

Dakota introduced me to a whole new world of energy healing, and she is still with me. I miss her so much.

I choose to live in the light of Dakota's life.

My Grief Yoga Journey Helped Heal My Trauma

…. my grief was too deeply rooted to be cured with words … (Orianda).
“We are healed of a suffering only by experiencing it to the full.”

In 2018, my life was thrown into the pits of hell when my youngest daughter Dakota died tragically.

I am a proud mom of three beautiful daughters and my equally beautiful stepdaughter. I have been married for over 30 years. For most of my life, I have been self- employed, and before Dakota left, I was in advertising sales, which I loved.

Dakota and I had started our Yoga Teacher Training together. I finished it for us and now humbly bring my teachings to anyone who needs to move and heal. Your story is your own, and only you know why you need to heal. I have been teaching private lessons and in studios in Mexico and Canada, with glowing testimonials from clients. Plus I have my Radiant Renewal Retreat, just for grievers.

I will guide you through the classes, whether you are new to yoga or need to move energy and work through grief or loss. I am here to serve you.

I have been able to work through my loss with a consistent yoga practice. Don’t get me wrong, there are still many days when I am overwhelmed with grief and sadness, but I know I can always come back to my yoga to help me through the day.

I no longer just live in a black-and-white world. Color has returned, and I am able to live and celebrate Dakota’s life.

If any of this resonates with you, then let’s connect and see if my yoga offerings are for you. Yoga moved the grief energy through my body. I have moved from being miserable and depressed to living a good life (most days). Allow me to help you do the same.
