January took the wind out of me ..

Grief healing

January is Dakota's angelversary. I practiced yoga and did an Ayurvedic cleanse for about a week leading up to the day and a few days following it. (I am an emotional eater, and often end up eating loads of junk, and then end up with a sugar hang over). I was still kicked down with immense grief and sadness.

There is nothing that can prepare us to deal with this amount of pain, all we can do is sit with it, acknowledge it and work through it. I have found this to be true for myself.

I posted on social media expressing my agony, and out of the blue, a fellow grieving mom called me. She has read my post and reached out.

I was blown away by the call and the kindness. She herself had been suffering, and had a spent a week in bed, and decided that instead of just sending a message, she would make a call ME. I have never met this mom, but her kindness, just to listen to me really touched my heart.

I loved making the connection.

So often we follow other grievers, and send love and hugs on days that they express their pain. Picking up the phone, or sending a voice mail can be so comforting.

I would love to hear from you, how do you go through the angelversary of a child or lost loved one?
